With Clear Focus Movies, directed by Dave Keith.
It was fascinating to observe the contrast in techniques between movie making and my style of still photography. Perhaps the biggest surprise was the lack of intimacy. When I shoot a portrait session with a subject it's intensely one to one and I'm really trying to expose the subject's inner self.
In movie making - well to my untrained eye anyway - the set is open house, busy and quite populated with the cast, lighting and sound people, assistants and even a couple of cute doggies. The actors do their pieces completely unselfconsciously in spite of the crowd. It's all very social actually. And doubtless the results are at least as convincing.
